If you have been following us for the past few years, you would have already noticed our frequent joint initiatives with Deutsche Post DHL. This is owed to the fact that quite a few of our members are current or former employees of the company and that these people have shown extraordinary commitment when it comes to supporting us.
During the past two years we had therefore started to build a partnership with DHL Cambodia, the local branch of the Deutsche Post DHL Group. Our first collaboration was a tour through the premises of their Phnom Penh headquarters, facilitated by the senior management of the company and directed at our scholarship students. The goal of this tour was to introduce DHL Cambodia as a company and to explain to the students what it takes to make a career within the organisation. A report and some more pictures on this visit can be found in our newsletter issue 07 2017. You can access it via http://www.kidshelp-kambodscha.org/newsletter-2/?lang=en
During meetings between the management of our organisations as well as during the tour for our students, DHL Cambodia had expressed that they are always looking to find talented and hardworking people to join their ranks. We responded to this that we believe that our scholarship students are ideal candidates for DHL Cambodia, as they had to overcome many challenges to get where they are right now.
This is why we are very happy to be able to announce that in February 2018 our first scholarship student has joined the DHL Cambodia internship programme. Ker Soviseth is currently in his second year of IT studies at the Royal University of Phnom Penh and started working at DHL as IT support intern.
Soviseth’s role is to assist anybody who faces problems with their hard- or software. In order to be able to grow as a professional, he receives on the job training by his colleagues and his supervisor. He says:
“I learned a lot of things in the company and what it feels like when to work in a big company! Being responsibe, being on time and being nice as well!“
Soviseth’s time with DHL has just begun. We hope he will continue to learn and grow during the internship and that many more of our students will explore the many career opportunities DHL has to offer.
